Atari Blitzkrieg x Digital Fiend – Burn:Cycle

August 4, 2010 in MP3's by atari

Digital Fiend and I have started work on the sequel to our first album, Serial Port Experiments. Those of you who haven’t heard it, you can check out the EP here or you can just buy it on Amazon, iTunes or anywhere else.

Anyway, here is the first track we’re releasing, Burn:Cycle. We’re continuing that cyberpunk hip-hop vibe of the first one but upgrading it, enhancing and elevating it. Have a listen and let us know what you think.

Random Atari Tracks Tuesday

May 11, 2010 in MP3's by atari

Hello friends,

I’ve gone through the vaults and unearthed a few random tracks here. The first is “An Approach to Pre Kickage,” which was the intro to the EP that eventually became “The Central Parking Lot Rangers EP.” This was the intro to the EP, which also set the tone for my debut album, “Kick, Punch, Fight, Rhyme.” I always thought this beat was pretty funky and no one ever heard it, so here you go.

Next up is a remix I did for “A Middle Man’s Brain,” a track off of “12.31.99,” deliberately bass-heavy and distorted, I wanted to go with something a bit more upbeat than the original production to kick up the energy a tad. I think eventually I’ll compile all of these remixes and put them together, one of these days anyway …

Last up is a song that was on “12.30.99,” Two Six Double-Oh, my ode to the Atari 2600. This track was produced by my man Cadence of Raw Produce, it’s sort of the Atari version of GZA’s Labels, I guess. Although I don’t think GZA goes Commando when he’s hanging out at Burger Time. Enjoy.

The Melancholy Sampler

January 6, 2010 in MP3's by atari

The beginning of 2010 brought upon the ending of a distinct musical backdrop I’ve worked with for almost 15 years, a specific sound scape that relies on samples and drum loops to complete the package. While most of my best work was birthed from this approach, at times it’s restrictive and doesn’t offer the same flexibility keyboards and guitars provide.

This brings us into my latest album, The Melancholy Tales of Extraordinary Robot Avengers, a project I’ve been working on for about a year now, moving away from the samples and loops and dusting off the keyboards to craft the music behind the vocals. Nearly complete, it’s not really a new direction lyrically but the backdrops have let me be a bit more creative with the entire song.

This will also be the first album that includes lyrics, for the digi-version buyers, it’ll be a PDF but that doesn’t matter as I’m not planning any of that just yet. I’m wrapping it up, mastering the one track to go into the film and prepping The Hatred to Be to go out as a single. THTB was completed back in 2007 with Daniel Mongrain of Martyr on guitars but I went back in recently to redo the vox and the drums/bass as it was initially based on a track that used the NES Castlevania theme. Kinda strange.

As a child of the ’80′s, I wanted to pull in some of the sounds from that era into the music so you’ll hear the LinnDrum featured heavily on tracks (pawn shop special) an Oberheim OB-X and some other stuff.

Have a listen to the sampler and that’s it for now,
