Perfect Blue
On 10.10.10, I released Perfect Blue (some spots released it early but 10.10.10 is the date I designated), a tribute EP dedicated to the late Satoshi Kon, those of you familiar with anime will immediately recognize his name.
On August 24, pancreatic cancer ended the life of one of the most influential directors of our time, upon hearing the news, I immediately decided to create a project dedicated to him. The songs highlight some of the ideas found within his work but also includes my own political and moral statements, all done to help benefit cancer research. I have reached a point in my career where I would rather use the additional income I receive from music to help aid those who require it much more than I do and for personal reasons, I choose to focus more on Cancer-based charities than others.
The cover revolves around a distorted vision of Mima I replicated and then digitally destroyed to create a replication of a scrambled TV image as I wanted the album to play as a mini-film. I reached out to producers whose work I respect, magOwl, Moka Only, DJ A.I., Blockhead, Jazz Spastiks, Digital Fiend & Dr. Quandary. Due to a conflict, the original Blockhead produced version of Exclamation Corpse won’t be on the project but the rework by DJ A.I. takes on a life of it’s own as do all of the tracks. Each producer bring their own style to the EP, and it flows seamlessly.
Whether you choose to pay for the project or obtain a copy for free, I highly recommend you donate to the charity I will be giving all sales to, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It all starts with our children and I want to make sure we keep that cycle going.
